Episode 8 of Mighty Mighty Marsten House brings us Adlib of BattleAxe Warriors.
Adlib talks to Tim about:
- Meeting MadChild
- Getting into hip hop
- His creative process
- The story behind two sets of lyrics
- What it means to a BattleAxe Warrior
Here’s a look at Adlib’s answers to the lightning round:
Tim Lawson: What’s one of your favorite destinations of travel?
Adlib: I love Spain, obviously I love Amsterdam and Vancouver. Canada as a whole is an awesome country. Europe is awesome, but Spain, Toronto and Vancouver.
Tim: Tell us about the challenge of pursuing your success while having to be a by stander with your mom’s health issues?
Adlib: My mom is a fighter she beat cancer twice, so its mind over matter. She knew she was going to beat it, she just kept rocking and rolling and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I take pride in that. I did the same thing. I wouldn’t take no as answer. People thought I was crazy when I quit my job. I’ll do what I have to do to take care of my family but I had more opportunities in music. I knew it was the right thing to do.
Tim: Tell us about the atmosphere at a Marsten House Cypher and why it’s so important?
Adlib: I love the experience of recording at Marsten House. The Cyphers, they always put dope guys together. They are really good matchmakers. It always flows.
Tim: What can we expect next from you?
Adlib: My record Teenagers from Mars with Rob the Viking is available now. The Highway just dropped in October. I’m working on new music as we speak and in September The Vinyl Teenagers from Mars will officially be out. I’ll be leaving on tour in 3 weeks. Then in August I’ll be back in Canada.
